If you look for sources carefully, you'll see two attempts.

"another" attempt?

If you didn't know, that was attempted quite a number of times.

It was attempted once before.

That's why I said tries the second time around, not succeeds yet again.

It could also be twice, which is why the title is accurate. You would have to be incredibly foolish or terribly unlucky, but it's possible.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding numbers, but if the first attempt was aborted then this is the second attempt?

They don't have time to do it the right way the first time, but they have time to do it twice.

No one is certain you can't get it twice.

And it is not even the first time someone tried.

Second try? Dude, it was FIRST try only.

Can't pull the same stunt twice. In the famous words of George W Bush, "Fool me once, shame on ... shame on you. Fool me... You can't get fooled again!"

Now, you try again.

They're indeed often said twice in a row, but not always.

Not only did they try it, they tried it 3 times.

This is the second time this particular excuse has been trotted out. It didn't work the first time, either.

It can’t possibly be the first time someone tried this.

First time would be a coincidence, third time is a broken (or working well, depending on your PoV) process/culture.

Oh yes, that's what I meant by try again.

Not the second time, and that’s really the important part.
