I think you just made my point: crypto people never have anything to show for that most regular people can relate to.

It always has to do with some third-world country in the shit.

Also funny: they often try to obfuscate and sling irrelevant jargon around.

sort by: page size:

in this thread: people claiming crypto people dont understand society, whilst also ignoring the existence of reputation, legitimacy, and community.

Normal people do not have, use, or understand cryptocurrencies. If you think they do all that means is you live in a very specific bubble.

These people are already so far removed from the crypto infrastructure that it's a trivial case.

People who bring this up are almost always people who have never lived anywhere near real poverty or conflict. Barring individual cases, the vast majority of the world's less privileged have neither the means nor the knowledge to buy crypto in any shape

It is always the same debate in any cryptocurrency thread. People from economically free countries cannot understand cryptocurrencies because they are not meant for them and label them as scam. They cannot understand what 85% income tax is, authoritarian governments freezing (or emptying!) bank accounts for no reason, etc.

There aren't. There just aren't, and I am constantly amazed at how crypto enthusiasts have this level of cognitive dissonance.

The people who are the most enthusiastic about cryptocurrency are typically the least informed.

"You know nothing, your opinion is invalid" is a classic "crypto" talking point.

"You don't understand Bitcoin," they shriek while failing to comprehend the precarious position their beloved asset is in. "Bitcoin can't have bubbles, it's mathematically impossible," yell their cheerleaders.

Those people are just as dumb. Crypto attracts this weird sort of clueless hero-worshipper type, similar to the Musk thing.

For some people here everything is about how crypto is bad.

People get off on criticizing crypto. It makes them feel better about themselves.

There is definitely a pervasive culture within cryptos of people either "getting it" or "not".

It's a bit disturbing.

This seems to be true of most people period. If there is a lump of people where a majority do understand crypto I haven't found it, possibly outside of tiny academic circles.

Some crypto fanboys who stay in their illusion and can't handle the truth ( my guess)

The ignorance displayed by very smart people with regards to cryptocurrencies is fascinating.

Another great point. Truly insightful.

This is the level of discourse adults experience from cryptobros, and it's why no-one except other cryptobros actually take you seriously.

Who cares what crypto people say?

I just feel most people who are obsessed with crypto that I’ve come across in my personal life are some of the least financially responsible/educated people I’ve ever met

that and r/bitcoin comment sections are very delusional cult to me

Most of the people I'm lumping into this did not and usually still do not understand why or how cryptocurrencies can solve problems.

Crypto-coin stuff seems to cause one-dimensional good-vs-bad discussions. Nothing to learn from.

The people that make separate higher standards for crypto are ignorant about how the thing they respect works too.
