Coinbase isn’t a crypto currency

I wonder if the nocoiners here are aware that YCombinator is incubating a lot of crypto startups. Coinbase is a YCombinator company.

Coinbase doesn't trade in ICOs.

Bitcoin is probably not a security. Something like tether or filecoin probably is.

Coinbase is a cryptocurrency company. This just one of dozens of contrversial associations that everyone in cryptocurrency has.

i don't understand. coinbase does not host content. it is a trading/exchange platform.

Coinbase is an exchange for people to access cryptocurrency. The gradual adoption of cryptocurrencies weakens central governments’ currencies. Their entire business is by nature, political.

In this case, Coinbase is a YCombinator company. Even if you aren't interested in BTC, Coinbase and its business dealings are very much a good topic of conversation on these forums.

Are you conflating Coinbase with Basecamp? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26944192

edit wish I could delete. I'm sorry for being one step behind on the HN treadmill. I had only read about Basecamp's announcement.

> Coinbase makes crypto currencies trading/investing/purchasing as robust and seemingly as safe as possible.

Coinbase is the AOL of crypto.

I'm always very sceptical of any news articles about Bitcoin because they are probably fed by companies who need to drum up demand for it.

Unfortunately, ycombinator has a stake in coinbase, if I'm not mistaken.

Coinbase for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.
