I'd rather it be political or everything else...

I shouldn't have made it a hashtag.

sort by: page size:

Drive-by inflammatory political hashtags are like, not what we're here for.

But politics is not what this site is about. And nothing about Twitter is interesting from a curiousity standpoint.

It's simply not something I want as part of my feed. Be it a politician I loathe or tolerate.

agree, I wish this discussion was less about politics and more of the impact on social media

If your intention really was to reduce the mention of politics on here this is a poor way to go about it.

I'd prefer to see a politics tag added to hn.

I understand what you mean, but political content is just not allowed.

Perhaps for the good ;)

Ps. I posted it

I was worried this would be a political post :p

I know politics is on the list of things not to post, but I think this qualifies for the exceptions to that.

Please, no politics. This is the wrong site for that.

Almost any topic is potential political.

But all facebook cares about, is not to be blamed again for fake news on their network are responsible again for a not desired outcome of the election. So this is just one step towards that image, nothing more.

Or one could post exclusively about one's interests and nothing even remotely political. That's what I have in my blog.

Of course, not the same applies to my twitter and facebook accounts. I've never posted anything really controversial, but there are some political posts. I remain optimistic, though, maybe I won't have to delete them. Hopefully.

I'm not sure I want Meta (or anyone) directing public discourse away from politics and controversial topics either.

I wish social media platforms would be agnostic to political events and focus on facilitating conversations.

I don't think this site can or should be a venue to discuss 100% of matters of public interest. It's one of the few social media that isn't rage-inducing

Also, the author is a hyper-partisan and (left-wing, not right-wing as some here have assumed) and this report has a political agenda.

Sorry about that, I will try to refrain from inciting political arguments in future.

Sorry dang. I shouldn't have used such a politically charged word. Will keep this in mind next time.

It wasn't a good idea. 'political' wasn't concretely defined, and so the ban just made it easier to flag any topic you don't like by way of a shifting definition of the word.

I now think that allowing political topics on HN was a mistake. I did cheer for it previously - sorry.
