Their domain is .com, isn't it?

Yet they use a .com for their own domain.

Well, they do have the .com domain, so maybe an exception applies here.

Crazy they picked a name where they don't own the .com

.com was for companies originally. It's been a long time since that was true.

But they don't even have the .com domain...

It's a top level domain, not one in the .com namespace.

The vast majority of domain names are .com - it’s a fair assumption to make, isn’t it?

They're a monopoly on .com. Reasonable or not, .com is still widely seen as more authoritative than other TLDs, even .net and .org.

Thanks for letting me know, forgot about that. Will try to find a domain that uses .com

.com is managed by VeriSign, a US company. For better or worse, that is the world we live in.

But to be honest, with all the new TLDs, there's no longer anything really special about the .com/net/org domains anymore.

Domain names, .com

.com is a US TLD, for better or for worse. US got the original "cool" TLD names.

But do you have the .com domain?

put simply, .com is a brand

.com?

I haven't used the .com in ages. They have a bunch of domains, I think. .vg springs to mind

Damn. I didn't realize this mattered. I looked outside of .com because it's practically impossible to find a decent domain.

Thanks I was not aware they used .co
