I have a pixel 3 and it's fine. I don't use google apps and it serves me well. There are dozens of replacement services and apps out there and that's a good thing

interesting. I have a pixel 3 and have experienced literally none of your issues and am really enjoying its lack of 3rd party software unlike my old samsung galaxy. In fact, this device has spurred me to fully embrace the google ecosystem

I've had a lot of Google/Android phones - Nexus 5X - Pixel 1 - Pixel 3 - Pixel 4

Im going back to iPhone. There are too many problems w/Google HW.

The supply chain sucks if something breaks (which happens much more often than my iDevices). My pixel 1 mic stopped working, and it was impossible to find parts to fix it (including for 3rd part repair stores).

My wife's Pixel 3 won't reliably charge wirelessly. You have to reboot the phone 1x per week inorder to get wireless charging to work. So you put it down... And wake up to a dead phone.

My pixel 4 had a terrible Chrome problem until very recently. Chrome would basically lock up the system. The gesture navigation also kind os sucks.

Also, the pixel 4 glass really sucks. I had scratches all over it with the first month... Vs my Moto G7 which has none.

Don't even get me started on the new Android TV chrome cast or the 2 WearOS watches or my chromebox that can't have more than 2 BT devices connected (or it stops working).

Yeah, it's quite a shame because I've always found the Google made phones to be the best. I had the Nexus 5 for 3+ years, and never had a problem with it. I think when it comes time to replace the Pixel I will have to look at other Android phones.

My Pixel 2 will be the last Google phone I own. I really shouldn't continue using it but since I take excellent care of my electronics it works just as well as the day I bought it so I'm reluctant to ditch it until it actually develops problems.

It's going to be far more cost effective for me to move to an iPhone and I never thought I'd ever say something like that non-ironically.

I have only used and would only ever consider Google Nexus / Pixel phones. The modifications made by every third party seem to make things worse.

While I can't say that I have noticed anything out of the ordinary yet on my Pixel 7, I will say that I have been a diehard Google phone user since the Nexus 4 days and have been really disappointed with how things have turned out with the more recent iterations of Google phones. Terrible battery life, bugs, poor quality fingerprint readers, questionable design decisions in general. The phones used to be a fairly reasonable alternative to the Apple offerings, but these days I feel like there is really no competition and am very close to switching to the other side. I really want to stick with what had traditionally worked for me, but I keep getting burned year after year now.

I used to have a Pixel 2 XL and then later a Pixel 5a. Went through them really fast as the hardware was pretty bad and the phone would just decide to stop turning on at some point. Same thing happened to a relative I gave a Pixel 5a. Phone didn't last a year.

Don't get me started on the Pixel buds. I got tired of contacting customer support for replacements.

That's when I decided not to buy hardware from Google again, and also stopped using Android. Experience in iPhone has been great so far. Phone's fast despite being several generations behind, don't have to worry about not getting security updates.

I had issues with my pixel 2 and pixel 3, both of them were poorly handled by Google support...

I was a terrible critic of apple but now I own an iPhone just because I am fairly certain that I will be better treated if something happens and there's an actual physical store.

I just don't trust Google hardware anymore.

Pixel 3 is an expensive piece of crap. Call quality sucks, battery life is terrible. And the USB-C will for stretches fail to recognize the provided earphones as an audio device (it reports that it's charging them).

There are somehow 2 or 3 different news modes - and I cannot figure out how to get to the one I want. The Google assistant frequently enables accidentally and records me talking. The phone regularly harasses me and asks me to give reviews and answer questions for them. Many of the news suggestions it gives me are tweets and Reddit threads; I don't tweet or use Reddit. There are a bunch of apps which can't be uninstalled that I don't use or have any need for. No matter how often I turn off the wifi, it decides it wants to turn it back on.

This is probably my last Google phone. Garbage.

Which phones did you have trouble with? I am still using my pixel 3. I was going to upgrade just for more storage (the camera updates are nice too).

+1 for Google Support post-purchase. I had the Pixel 3 and there's a feature to just text support from your phone, and they can send a phone in advance if you don't have a loaner/it can still function. The problem I do have is their QC, I went through three Pixels in less than a year and I had an original Pixel for less than 4 months before having to replace it. Hit the point where I did one last RMA to sell and picked up an iPhone.

For me Google's main issue is security updates. My 2 1/2 year old Pixel 3 is effectively trash because they only provided 3 years of security updates.

I have a pixel phone myself and know four other people with them and they've all been perfectly reliable. Not a single issue.

Pixel phone user here. Very similar experience.

FWIW my Pixel 4 is still going strong, haven't even thought of getting a replacement. My partner is on the previous Pixel 3 (released October 2018) and no complaints there either.

Honestly, the few times that I've needed for a Pixel, it has been pretty decent. It does depend on where you've bought it from, though. The Google Store has decent support in my experience.

I had a Pixel 3 and loved it. Not sure it's fair to say that it's a terrible device if you never owned it.

I only updated to a Pixel 5 last year because the battery was deteriorating after several years and I was given a Pixel 5 for free.

I have never experienced any app resets with the 3 or 5 (aside from banking, which is by design), and I switch between maps, browsers, camera etc. very often.

Pixel phones have absolutely not been reliable for me. From the Pixel 1 microphone defect to it needing a reboot every few days, and my Pixel 4A boot looping, Google phones are absolutely not reliable IME. (Almost as bad a Razer laptops).

Google, at least as of a couple years ago, provided chat support and painless warranty replacement on Pixel phones that actually broke.
