Irecived my first doze previous week, I was supposed to get next doze in 3 weeks, but now its delivery is suspended here.

Not sure what will happen, if they do pull it alltogether, get 2 doses of some other vaccine ?

That's the point, they are delaying the second dose. The original vaccine tests were based on 2 doses 3 weeks apart.

It's a big gamble that it won't lead to more vaccine resistant strains.

Well, the vaccine will only last a few months until you get a new shot. Might as well wait a bit.

The second dose I got had me unable to work or really do anything for 24 hours so if you aren't even willing to consider that I can be on the fence for legitimate reasons then I don't know what to tell you.

> why wouldn't you complete your vaccination?

There is no indication that this would be the final dose.

People seem to think that delivered vaccine doses will get thrown into the trash during the suspension. In reality it just means that the doses accumulate for a week or two and will be administered more quickly after vaccinations are resumed.

I wanted to avoid the second dose but ended up getting it anyways... hope they don't rush vaccine approvals again... might be good in the short run, but if issues come up, it might be bad in the long run.

New variant, more restrictions out of caution, wait for new vaccine.

Rinse and repeat.

They suspendend a batch of the vaccines, they still continue the vaccination of the children.

They are even thinking about using that specific batch for adults.

It'll be closer to 6-8 weeks since these early vaccines require two doses.

This isn’t quite right. The UK has delayed second doses to 3 months after the first dose to enable more people to get their first dose quicker. The plan is all adults vaccinated by September, and they certainly aren’t delaying second doses until then.

I wouldn't bank on them extending "recovery" duration... they'll simply ask for proof of vaccination after those 180 days.

not true, the 2nd shot is for long-term immunity

tho the vaccination was less than ten days in the past, so it might not have been active yet

While this case is quite bizarre, giving doses to random people rather than having the vaccine go bad is pretty common, and makes sense.

Except for one thing: If I am the lucky recipient of this vaccine, ahead of schedule (since I am under 75 and have no comorbidities), then what about the second dose? Do I have to get lucky a second time, the right amount of time after my first dose? (My understanding is that there have been no studies of delayed second doses.) Or am I given priority because I've had the first dose?

Does anyone know how many doses of other, presumably safer, vaccines Danemark has?

Perhaps they have the luxury to choose which jab to use, in which case it seems logical to prefer the safer one. TFA mentions that the decision would delay vaccine rollout by 4 weeks.

What is the impact of that delay?

I got one shot, the J&J. Didn't want it, but was being threatened with termination at work. Have not had any boosters, and work has since dropped all their vaccine requirements.

I recently got Covid. My original vaccine was in April 2021, shot #2 in May 2021, and booster in December 2021. It really knocked me out for a solid week + persistent symptoms and very annoying cough for another two weeks. I would happily take another booster shot but apparently I'm not eligible yet (in California). Shame to hear that some doses are being thrown away - I'd take a shot every other month if it would prevent me from getting Covid again.

FWIW I am planning to go to an homeless centre and lie that I haven't had my 2rd booster (which I had in september). I took the opportunity to get the 2nd booster early in september because our gov. told us it was important and there was some stock that would have gone bad so people could volunteer (and they were announcing a spike infection). But it was a bivalent wuhan/delta, not the wuhan/omicron that was made available 2 weeks after I had the shot (we were told those wouldn't be available until this year.. damn lies).

There are no campaign for a 3rd booster in my country, and it doesn't look like they are planning to so far (which is an entirely different story).

I have to read a bit more to evaluate if it's safe or not before I act on my plan.

To be clear, I had: first dose: 2 MRNA shots, then a first booster then a second booster. Planning to get a 3rd.

To be fair the article claims they will have other vaccines available in a couple of weeks.

Same experience for Hep A vaccine. Got the first dose, then there was a global shortage when it was time to get the second dose - not available.

If there are 7 billion people and 1 billion doses in the next year, it's going to be awkward.

Its probably just time delayed. Give it a few months. The vaccine protection seems to wear off rather quickly, based on data from UK and Israel.
