Alas, not being in the US does not protect against the American legal system.

It's simple: Since you're not in the US, US law doesn't apply to you.

American law can not apply to non-Americans abroad.

The US doesn't really have a working legal system for things happening outside its borders. In fact as a non US citizen outside the US you don't have much protection at all.

The US legal system is only accessible by citizens of the USA.

It should be of no surprise then, that citizens of other countries have no ability to protect themselves from over-reaching laws and actions by the US government.

The american law is not applicable in non US territories.

US law is not applicable in some countries, because they maintain independence from the US legal system.

What happens if he is not in the US though? US laws don't apply worldwide(thankfully).

Wow. Another reason I will never set my foot on US jurisdiction. It's just too dangerous. The law doesn't exist at all.

He isn't an American. Not all countries have the same laws.

Because US law doesn't apply to other countries.

Not being based in the US doesn't mean that you can't be criminally prosecuted in the US or, for that matter any jurisdiction that takes an interest and has a generous belief in the extra-territorial applicability of its laws.

Huh? By what law? US courts (federal or not) have no jurisdiction over foreign entities without US presence.

Yeah, but you're not part of the US legal system, which OP was talking about.

Assuming he's still a US citizen then US laws apply regardless of where he is. Just because he's outside the US doesn't mean he can break US laws.

So long as they aren't domiciled in the US, American laws don't (or shouldn't) apply outside the US any more than British laws apply in the US.

Bad thing you're not American. Regarding themselves, there are domestic rules, regulations and laws. For you, as a foreigner, no such protections apply.

Not everyone is American. Not everyone is bound by American law.

You have absolutely no protection from the U.S. government. Your European rights and protections meaning nothing in an American court.

U.S. law does not apply to foreign citizens. It's the equivalent of you getting arrested for some vague Chinese law.
