This has been my exact experience. So to me it's always been a read only site.

sort by: page size:

I feel like it is read-only for the vast majority of users. The whole internet is.

A read-only site would have very little of that sort of thing.

By read-only, I mean sans the comment sections that turned into outlets for mass spam, verbal abuse and misinformation.

it's been read only since ~forever

There have been several occasions recently where it is in read only mode.

It's read-only access.

Yep, it's only possible to give full access there. No read only.

You still get read-only access. Where you can no longer add or edit your entries.

"This site is currently in read-only mode; we’ll return with full functionality soon."

It's all read-only now. Changes are no longer allowed, at least not as seen there.

Read only?

Based on the read-write characteristics of every website I've ever built I'd say "mostly read-only" is a pretty good characterization.

Even things like forums have many, many page loads than new posts.

I read recently that they have a read-only web version now

its read only

Problem is a number of us were parts of the community and now treat it mostly as read only.

It seems to be read only a far as readers are concerned. I couldn't find any way to interact with the posts, so it's not for me I think.

There were always ways to get read only in the admin. Just not nicely. It shouldn’t have been holding you back though.

read-only

This. It's read-only, as far as I'm aware.
