They keep a lot of data in cold storage as well, so not sure how easy it would be able to get everything. Probably just whatever data they think will be likely accessed soon and is in relatively ephemeral storage.
I'm not so sure about that, the data they have just gets resold to some other party when they go bankrupt, possibly many other parties and shit gets worse.
They will probably put it in some archive where they delete it after 10 years. Or they keep it somewhere on a drive where it could be accessed but will never be, since no one has a reason to use the data.
I suspect a lot of this data that's commercially collected, directly by services and indirectly by advertising and analytics networks, will eventually end up in the digital storage closet, forgotten and eventually discovered by criminals just rooting around. Especially after acquisitions.
Even if they reason themselves out of this concern, if that data ever leaks then it will pretty much be like handing over your phone. It'll likely even come with years worth of data.
