Vaccines are not 100% effective. A small percentage of those vaccinated do not develop immunity.

There's a lot of room between 95% effective and useless. From everything I've read the vaccines are still a significant help, especially for preventing severe cases, even if they are less effective than against previous waves.

I'm pretty sure if the vaccine really worked well a few lawsuits wouldn't be enough to stop it. I suspect it must be less effective than expected.

Those percentages don't tell the whole story. Even when the vaccine doesn't match the circulating strains closely enough to prevent infection, it typically mitigates symptom severity at least a little. For some patients that can be the difference between life and death.

If the vaccines are not very effective in older people then they may not make as much of a difference as you think.
