Love the app but somehow it's very slow? I have a 300 Mbit/s connection and it's downloading at 55 kb/s...
EDIT: apparently luck plays a part. I stopped the download halfway. Then downloaded anew, and got 80 kb/s. Then canceled and restarted again, and then got 5 Mb/s...
The app is unbearably slow. I still use it, but it's unnecessarily frustrating. I'd attribute the decline in usage to it taking half a minute to refresh.
I was thinking the same. However from the article it seems the issue is actually less with the downloading, but more with the parsing and execution, which is blocking, and has a material impact for users on slow devices.
I don't see a reason it should be slow. Are you close to your host on the network? If you're using a hosted version (which i believe is hosted somewhere in Europe), it may just be a connectivity problem.
Faster relative to the website but reddits app just seems... ill. Just not very good.
I have been on connections ranging from 500k, to 500M, to ~2.1G (presumably bottlenecked on the wifi but you get the idea) and the app seems to load at exactly the same rate for me.
