It's Electron, the Mac and Linux versions will look exactly the same.

None. (At least the Mac version is not built on Electron.)

ironically, they have a not-mac version that is electron based

It's a mix of Electron and native code (Swift). Focusing on perfecting the macOS version for the time being. Will release both for Linux and Windows very soon.

Electron is basically Chromium and node.js, if those two won't run it won't be much of a Mac.

OP: Did you try this on Mac? I'm pretty sure Electron is only being used on Windows and Linux unless they recently made the switch..

Since the submission is about MacOS and Electron....

I'm actually surprised by that, I've been using the beta on my Linux machines and never noticed anything that would suggest it was electron. No performance issues, weird UI, etc. I actually prefer it to the MacOS/Windows native clients.

Looks nice. One question about desktop Mac version – is it an Electron app or a native app or something else?

Okay that's actually cool, that you switched to something else than electron, but it looks nearly identical from the screenshots, that's why I asked.

I've just read the blog post and it seems that they will migrate Mac client to Electron soon. That sucks, since I like native Mac client.

Because he's not just targeting mac. The code for packaging electron for different platforms has already been written.

Good to hear about electron based apps! Waiting for the Linux version.

And are you commenting about just macos and electron? Anyway does not change my answer.

Isn't it already run on electron? Certainly feels like it.

The intention is that they'll be identical, because they'll be written using Avalonia.

And I hate Electron. I hate it so much. I hate the web pages that I'm being told are "apps". I hate the lack of keyboard shortcut support. I hate the bad performance. I hate how it's not stick-to-your-finger fast. I hate owning unbelievably powerful computers and mobile devices and not taking advantage of their power and capabilities, and just reducing them to surfaces for fake "apps".

I refuse to not deliver native apps with Grace.

Basically an Electron for OSX is pretty neat.

It's based on Electron

Same thing, isn’t it? The desktop app is just electron

Btw, any reason not going cross-platform (Win/Linux along with Mac)? Judging by screenshots it doesn't look like a native Cocoa app, neither download size corresponds to Electron - what framework did you use for the UI?
