BUT those are what you just did. You are just as guilty of what you were excusing of others. You just made MAJOR hundreds of millions of people's deaths and called all of these little.
My problem is, folks such as yourself continue to discount the evil cost to humanity of ignorance of Americas recent multiple, heinous crimes against humanity, and folks such as yourself justify these evil acts endlessly, such that they continue unhindered by civilian oversight, in order to avoid the cold hard truth: the American people have the blood of millions of innocent people on their hands, today. Just as the German people did in 1945.
My problem with you specifically, is that you are doing this:
“People tend to turn away from disasters such as a war gone bad very quickly. They turn away because it bothers them morally, but also because the carnage challenges their strongly held self-perception that their country is a force for good in the world,” said Tirman. “In the face of something horrible, people are much more likely to become indifferent than they are to protest. Oftentimes it’s even easier to just blame the victims for causing their own suffering.”
Killing millions of people is not a proper response to and isolated terrorist act. Moreover you are trying to justify the suffering of people by using some hypothetical scenario that hasn’t occurred.
Yeah, blaming the population, that's totally fair.
What country are you from? Are you sure you're "free of guilt"? Why even stop at war? Do you have poverty in your country? If so, why are you happily posting in HN instead of fighting in the streets?
So they deserved it then? Please keep in mind you're talking about many innocent bystanders being killed as an outcome of US foreign policy.
I don't think it's entirely black and white in the other direction either but your comment strikes me as crass and indifferent towards human life, dehumanizing, confusing people with their larger society and government.
