What's really different this time around is getting interviews is a big problem. Earlier you could get some interviews as well, but this time around its VERY seasonal plus and in general quite difficult.
Yep, 2019 was the first year people would have become eligible for this, as I recall. There's has been federal focus on streamlining the application process since then.
These numbers were estimates made from before the pandemic. If anything, the pandemic cut a few years of waiting as unused family slots rolled over into employment based slots.
Actually it's currently looking more like 15 years. People with priority dates in 2009 are just getting in. So if you account for the number (plus consider the fact the people in EB-3 become eligible for EB-2 after a few years), it looking more like 15.
The silly thing is, there is bipartisan bill in congress and Senate to fix it (HR 392). But it is stuck is legislative limbo.
Yes. Current waiting times for the final step of the process is 12+ months (it was ~2 months before the current administration according to lawyers). I am currently 2.5+ years in, and late spring/early summer would be the best case scenario according to the lawyers handling it. Same for several of my coworkers. I work at a large, well known tech company.
For anyone who applies before the end of this weekend, we'll be in touch by mid-week next week with decisions on next steps in the process. Final decisions should be made about 1.5-2 weeks after that. We'll move equally quickly for applications that come in next week through to the April 14 deadline.
I believe they'll review the applications at their own pace as the applications are coming in. The deadline just indicates the final date to get one in, not the start of the review.
The application deadline and the day we respond have been pushed back (they're now March 25 and April 6) but interviews still take place on the same weekend, April 17-19.
The August bulletin currently lists April 2010 for India EB-3 (October 2017 for EB-1).
If you go back through the last few years of bulletins, this 9 year wait has been relatively stable. Unless you believe there's been a massive spike in applicants in the past few years, there's no reason to believe the current wait for new applicants is 50 or 70 years.
This is just the announcement of the applicants. There are multiple objection and review periods for these applicants to move through. These will /possibly/ be available mid 2013
Nah that's not true. New applications are due in late April usually, and valid assuming you win the lottery, you can start at the beginning of the new USICS fiscal year in October. You can prep the paperwork in a week or two if you want. 6-7 months should suffice, and thats assuming you are selected. With premium processing you should know within what 2 weeks of submission? Not sure how premium processing works with the lottery.
They may be accepting applications for 2020 but some subset won't be approved until they have the lottery. Also, it may take some time to update the file. The 2019 file will grow larger. Ignore it for now.
