Yeah, I don't think we're 7 years away from totally fucked. I think it's probably more like we reached the totally fucked point 7 years ago but most won't realize it for another 7 years.
I want to agree with you here, but I fear that this reality is closer than we expect, perhaps less than a generation away.... it starts with citizens untied, and it means we’re already fucked, just not completely, not yet.
The headline is talking about a point of no return for a specific threshold or feedback loop, and there seem to be no end of those, for decades to come. As for the "we're fucked" point of no return, we'll still need to first precisely define it.
Indeed, yes, nothing is certain... The other part, which is about certain, is that we'll have been dealing with the fallout of this particular meltdown for 30 to 40 years, or more.
Like you say, things are bad enough without exaggerating the situation.
If you think this is all over in anything less than 4-5 years in terms of economic impact, I don't think you've understood what has really just happened and is about to happen.
