I believe it's a morality thing.

behind this is the question of morality,I think.

yeah, it presupposes that peoples motivations are based in morality.

What drives your decision if not morality?

Morality?

some people think it is

morality is subjective

Well now you're talking about morality. I honestly had no idea that that's what you were referring to in your post.

i disagree. i think there's some morality hard-wired in most people.

I don’t know how I feel about the ‘moral’ aspect of the practice, but I can be almost certain you are correct.

Does morality come into this?

It sounds to me like you don't believe in morality in general at all. Assuming I'm wrong - what is morality to you?

No, it's about (being consistent with one's own) morality.

Moral.

I think it's because people like to moralise.

Ah, moralism.

Morality is rooted in authority.

Or to put it in a word, they have “morals.” And when they talk about it, they are ”moralizing.”

I think some of it comes from confounding a moral system (i.e. a system for evaluating the morality of an action) with a system which acts in a morally correct manner.

For some value of morality.

Plus morality is highly subjective and beliefs on what is moral varies by individual.

ah... morality. How we all like to think ours is the one.
