TIL, and this sounds actually rather useful. Do you have information on which ones would support that? Especially in the range a curious hacker (who else is HN for?) would be interested in.

This is HN material. It's hacking a different kind of system, is all.

wow, interesting. how hackable are they?

One of the most insightful comments I've read on HN. Love your idea of taking the Unix approach to hardware - don't know enough about hardware hacking to know if that's doable but I like the idea!

interesting hacking target

Haven't seen a bunch of hardware hacks on HN, so I figured I would share our project!

Funny, sawthisbon discover and immediately wondered if this was on HN.

Anyway, I have a few of these I use for pentests / audits https://electroniccats.com/store/huntercat/

I've caught and reported two pumps at fuel stations near where I live. One of them I watcheded when the police showed up and with the fuel station employee removed the ble module storing the data.

yeah I saw that. Was/is it any good? Is that all hackers search for? I'll take a look at this. Might be some gaps I might find interesting.

Interesting. How do they hack that?

The snake sh code was a graceful late night read to me. Thanks. I can see it being used even to purposely puppeteer ssh linked machines

There is a reference at the bottom to another article on hacking hnsearch to surpass their result limit.

Ah! Yes, I believe this has been mentioned in earlier articles, and I thought of that today morning. I guess its easy to take a look at that, and then take on some of the suggestions that the other hackers have put up.

Thank you, all of you, hopefully I will have my mind blown away.

This is the most valuable comment I have read on hacker news. My mind is blown. Thank you.

Didn't even know about this when I wrote the comment. Now I'm a little more inspired to look into hardware hacking. Thanks!

And these can then be turned off by the hacker.

Please do explain further - I've not seen this referenced with it's name and description for quite some time on Hacker News! It is very rare!

How hackable is it? That could be useful

ROFL. Yes, "as a toy". Things that 99.9% of Hacker News (and 99.999999% of the general public) has literally never had a need to do, their absence surely just invalidates it.

Hot takes like yours are what make HN a hilarious joke to the rest of the world. Embarrassing.

The H2G2-42 thing is pretty funny!

On a more serious note... Can anyone shed some light on the hackability of this piece of hardware?

No. Hack's type system is unsound and HHVM discards all type information from Hack.
