A lot of good would come from being able to personality search companies, especially by career level.

I agree with your opinion. I would say if the company can make an effective way to give feedbacks and to filter candidates, they would bring a good thing somewhere in life. After all, we are all connected.

So do you think a service that helps you narrow down the list of companies for you to work would be helpful?

That's an interesting idea actually. Assuming that the people you work with represent a graph (say something like Linkedin) and everybody's resumes were online, a traversal of that graph might yield other good employees.

A pretty good way to find people that you want to hire. Perhaps if we can add some experience graphs along with these, we can get a good platform up that actually makes head hunting really easy for small companies who do not have the time or the money to do this properly.

I believe LinkedIn and Glassdoor already do this.

Hah, that was the most striking value in the entire list to me as well

That's a good point, I got over being overwhelmed real quick once I started picking values. At that point I was more impressed at how many there were. I'm definitely aware that there are two sides to this coin

edit: wondering if you thought about eventually sharing this information to companies as well? Definitely has to be an opt-in thing for the user. Some teams within companies might differ in some key values, so knowing what a candidate prefers could lead to a more granular and accurate match. Would be valuable for a company to know - enough for them to want to pay you, possibly

I personally would use such a feature, although the privacy concerns and such might be too hairy to deal with

I love this idea. Hope more and more companies could adapt this way for hiring.

If a company starting doing this, it would be a real boon for recruiting. It's pretty hard to compete w/.

this could disrupt the recruiting industry. its a matchmaking service and it matches your personality to the company. someone make this please.

I would be most interested in getting introductions at these target companies. Even if it's an informational interview with the person who has my dream job, that's a big step from not having that relationship.

If we imagine this as an AngelList sort of system, then the employers and prospective candidates are all high quality. The service could just be a match-making service that does a bit of due diligence on their respective quality. That's a big asset.

Well, they can tell their customers "look, if you search through us we can give you the candidates application along with a nice analysis of their personality, their history, their real interests etc."

I'm not sure it would be really helpful. Not all jobs (on LinkedIn) are IT jobs, far from that.

The real advantage would be to map everyone and every company to get intelligence on the users and potential users of their products (Office 365)

Imagine a world in which Google recruiters have a profile of you on their desk of likes, dislikes, likely life goals, and potential avenues to woo you into joining them. I imagine Facebook has a dataset that could be applied to make such a thing and soon (if not already) so will Google.

Very cool idea. I think this could become a great way for companies/startups to find really great talent.

It would probably be even more helpful to a market of candidates applying for jobs. This idea has great potential!

It wouldn't necessarily have to be geared for individuals. I think there are a ton of companies out there in the 20-50 employees that are doing well, not getting a lot of publicity, but have a tough time finding great people. As I do finding them. This is where a service like this makes sense to me.

That almost sounds like it would be a great way to screen potential companies! (But I don't have kids so that makes it difficult to implement for me.)

This seems like a great idea. In fact, I think it would make sense for companies to profile the roles of existing employees (or even better, have the employees build the profile themselves). In this way, companies can gain a better understanding of what everyone does and what it takes to keep everything running smoothly. Even the employee themselves may gain a better understanding of their job requirements after taking some time to build something like this.

Yes, that would be very interesting. As a hiring manager, I wouldn't make a decision based solely on that information, but I definitely would use it if it was available.
