I really wonder what they'll do with the podcast. With all three gone now, it'll be extremely hard to continue on with the show - either they find replacements, which will change the atmosphere of show altogether, or they just discontinue it.
That was the only reason I went there. There podcast also went off the deep end over the past few months and has been terrible I used to love it and listen to it regularly since 2016ish.
I feel, at least for me, the golden age of podcasts is over already.
There was the early [0] Retronauts the new Patreon/Kickstarter version is only same in name.
Then there was the [1] 1up Yours. All the hosts, co-hosts, and popular regular guests have moved on.
Then there was the epic [2] A Life Well Wasted by Robert Ashley. This is absolutely superb.
The only podcasts of similar I listen to now are Giant Bombcast and 8-4 Play. I miss the good old days.
I've tried to branch out to other topics and areas, but podcasts are my way of escaping and thinking and listening to something else outside work and study.
I have actually started to go back through these and re-listen to them. They are timeless. I have a friend who does the same.
I used to love the podcast in particular. But then it sort of went in this annoying lifestyle direction with very rare involvement from Levitt and had nothing to do with it's original subject matter.
the show used to be good fun. general banter, silly conspiracy stuff. it started sucking well before Trump and then the election made it so much worse.
haven't listened in years but somehow i ended up with JCD as a connection on LinkedIn, so every time I log on there's some no agenda hot take in the feed somewhere.
The podcast seems like a death sentence. They did one on Charlie Munger and he died a few weeks after. Jim Simons also died a few weeks after his episode aired.
Same, used to be my default radio and podcast listening, then a few years ago they had a major jump in their style/producers/journalists and just couldn't keep listening anymore.
Yeah I liked breaking points when it was just the two original hosts even though it was still opinionated. Honestly the podcast scene has just turned into cable news
People have been saying this every year for half a decade now. But it's the same podcast as it ever was.
Eric Weinstein was fantastic, Freddie Gibbs and Brian Moses were hilarious, Tim Dillion was the exact amount of ridiculous you'd expect. Then there's the episodes with professors like Brian Greene and Avi Loeb, and then fighters like GSP and Dan Gable. Nothing has changed except the platform.
