My Facebook account was shut down without explanation in 2019. Despite its age (15 years) I barely used it, let alone for anything "controversial", but did regularly log into it. I repeatedly tried to verify my identity by submitting an image of my driver's license, without any response.
If a Facebook employee is reading this ... I don't want to create a fake new Facebook account (which would be against the TOS, anyway). My account is so old that it was created back when only those associated with certain universities could get one. I want that one back.
I wish Facebook brings something similar to the Instagram.
I recently got hacked and lost my account and my first name username for good[0]. They don't even allow 2 factor auth on accounts with low followers there.
I would also appreciate suggestions on how to regain my Facebook account, shut down without explanation last year. Facebook already has a good mechanism for validating account owners which involves showing users random unlabeled photos of their friends and asking them to guess who's who.
I guess an excuse like "you got hacked" helps you get much more important information from your users.
No one is talking about how all of the sudden, a lot of accounts supposedly got "hacked".

I have/had a Facebook account with a phone number. The account was left unused for a few years. Recently, I used my E-mail to reset its password, unfortunately, since the account was abandoned for a long time, the system flagged my activity as "suspicious" automatically, and asks me for confirmation using my phone number.
But I no longer own that number.
And from the customer Q&A forum, I realized I was not the only one - it is almost impossible to find an actual human from Facebook to solve this kind of verification problem.
All I wanted is to delete it, but I can't. Now, my account becomes a zombie, can't be used, can't be deleted, and has lots of personal information. All thanks to the falsehoods Facebook programmers believed about phone numbers, and its non-existent "customer [0]" service.
I've heard Google has similar issues [1], if the machine works, then everything is fine, until you need a human...
I suspect the helpful SEO guy who posted this answer was trying to get more visibility on Quora so answered many questions automatically or semi-automatically without verifying anything.

My dear !
Yes, 1-844-457-1420 is a valid Facebook support phone number. It is a toll-free number that is available 24/7. You can call this number to get help with a variety of Facebook issues, such as:
Resetting your password
Logging in to your account
Recovering a hacked account
[...]
I'm not sure its as easy as the post makes it sound, the person not having a facebook account would still need to provide identification, otherwise, if its a facebook user, he can be reported for spam/blocked/banned or something.
Sounds great until your account is compromised and FB refuses to prevent the hacker from mounting a spear-phishing expedition against your friends, family, and co-workers.
