Who am I endangering by driving without a seatbelt?

If you don't wear a seatbelt and are in an accident you are much more likely to hurt others than if you do wear a seatbelt.

Not wearing a seatbelt puts other passengers at risk. If you are t wearing a seatbelt you have a chance of being flung into someone, even if the other person is wearing a seatbelt. This can cause serious injury.

Unfortunately, not wearing a seat belt isn't a risk borne just by the one in the seat. There have been cases of people flying out of their window and battering someone with their body due to not wearing a seat belt. Of course, everything carries a risk of harm to someone else, its a matter of where to draw the line.

Refusing to wear a seatbelt does, in fact, present a risk to others because in a crash, you can become a lethal projectile should you fly and hit someone else.

But unlike speeding or drunk driving, not wearing a seatbelt doesn't cause car crashes.

Don’t wear seatbelts either huh?

The argument you’re presenting here is an argument by exception.

Plenty of people survive accidents when not wearing seatbelts. That does not prove that not wearing seatbelts is okay.

Do you also avoid seat belts because there are unlikely accident scenarios where they do harm?

The only person at risk when I decided to not wear a seatbelt is me. Laws compelling me to wear one are the epitome of government overreach.

Wearing a seatbelt doesn't prevent you from dying in a car accident, guess we might as well stop that too, sounds useless to me.

Well I do wear my seatbelt. However, I do it for my own safety, not because I'm forced to do.

People die wearing seatbelts. They are still safer than not wearing seatbelts.

I don't wear a seat belt, because I do my best not to get into accidents.

Driving, even with a seatbelt, strikes me as an irresponsibly risky activity.

Even a minor collision can cause significant neurological dysfunction, and most seat belts do nothing to protect against the sub-lethal variety.

You wear your seat belt, right? That's obviously a risk you already take seriously, so I'd not take it for a bound on tolerance for risk.

it's up to my passengers then - their personal decision - take the risk without me wearing the seatbelt, not riding with me or convince me to put on one.
