Maybe that wasn't on the table. We won't know until some executive would retire and end up writing a tell all.

Which exec? The article doesn't say.

If that were the case, why wouldn't the CEO say so?

What happened to these executives?

I wonder if there was maybe some foresight in him having an official biography approved shortly before he stepped down as CEO.

Ideally, sure, but I doubt these kinds of decisions generally get written down so there's probably no paper trail.

I suppose if you just held the CEO ultimately responsible...

What struck me about this announcement was that the CEO states a couple of times that he is accountable for the decision, but doesn't say what form that accountability takes. I try not to be cynical, but I suspect in this case that there will be no actual, real accountability.

Would have been interesting if they appointed a co-ceo. That still might be the way to go.

Well, I guess we found out what the CEO's word is worth.

No CEO can or will answer this. Don't even bother asking.

The CEO wasn't the one asking the question.

Any guesses on if this was the proposed "real reason" behind the CEO's recent departure?

It might have been the VC behind it, rather than him directly. We won't know until an insider writes a history.

The top management is out, we'll see next year how it changes the books.

Again, a CEO with a long-term career wouldn't want to do that.

He's not at the top of the corporation, just of the US operations. He might well not have known.

It's also important to remember we have the benefit of hindsight and the information that has come out since then. Which said CEO didn't have at there time of that call.

Why wouldn't they? He's not the CEO and there are still things he knows to keep his mouth shut about.

It seems kind of naive to think that he'll be CEO for long, or if it is for long, that there will be much company left to be a CEO of.

Wouldn't the be the CEO?
