Oh dear. I pushed an addendum to the article: https://github.com/Xe/site/commit/05135edcbe5e474131c15c2476...

Thanks for pointing that out!

Good point. And sorry for the imprecision. Just fixed it: https://github.com/kdeldycke/kevin-deldycke-blog/commit/6306...

The original link was to https://github.com/dear-github/dear-github/issues/125

The link was changed to the GitHub blog post sometime in the past hour since _ikke_ commented.

I'm referring to the commit to which I initially replied:

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22935985

"...is it time to move away from Github?"

They do actually have a link at the bottom, labelled github, outside the article for some reason.

All: the originally submitted URL was https://github.com/git/git/commit/8959555cee7ec045958f9b6dd6.... Readers are divided about which link is better, which probably means you should read both to understand the thread.

I remember reading about that, but it must have been after I wrote that part of the userguide 11 years ago: https://github.com/i3/i3/commit/1fcad44f66926e679f4af6e4f4d6... :)

Can you send a PR for https://github.com/i3/i3/blob/30e886b0319ee948863a36a65e5b72... with your correction please?

For some reason it was commented out, and the author didn't say why:

I think this is the original 2011 announcement:

Thank you. I'm hijacking this top comment at the moment to share that I have responded: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21389908

I hope that makes it very clear what this is, why it's there, and what we're doing about the GitHub issue raised. If there are any questions, please respond to that thread and I'll be happy to respond.

I wish the article would actually link to the github repository.

I raised an issue on GitHub about this a few days ago: https://github.com/HackerNews/HN/issues/100

Unrelated to the content of your article, but something that I noticed:

The link to your GitHub profile page in the footer of the article is broken: it points to 'https://github.com/https://github.com/vcolano'.

> the most important third-party library in the Python ecosystem has a git history that looks like that[0]?

Your link has a typo: https://github.com/numpy/numpy/commits/master

Granted, they don't have a link to the GitHub page on the blog post itself, but it's open source software.
