It seems like they are trying to step back with this (and force the regulators to have law as well).

Given the horrifically vitriolic hate-filled partisan crap-fest we are in - it is much too late for that.

They seem hell bent on passing these new rules regardless of what anyone else says or does.

I'm afraid that it will have to come to lawsuits after the fact to stop this course of action.

Hard to see this becoming law though. They must have influence in DC by now.

Okay, so basically it'll require legislation at this point.

I'd like to think that the more draconian they make laws like this, the faster they'll fall.

I'm just not so sure...

I'm just worried that this has already happened and they are waiting for it to be legal before they flip the switch.

I wonder how long until we see legislation popping up to try and stop this?

I'm sure they can manage to insert a back door in the legislation, giving themselves a way out.

That's going to be bad news when it gets legislated away then, isn't it.

Wouldn't touch this with a 30 foot pole.

Hopefully sane legislation will prevail and end this madness soon.

Hasn't happened so far but I'm sure they're taking suggestions. Feel free to raise some, and take it up with your legislature. But at least they're trying something.

So this is how they are going to regulate it now.

Yeah. For now it's more of a latent danger than a law that is enforced according to its spirit or even letter - the letter of the law is fairly clear. I hope and assume that it will be enforced as soon as someone in the right position takes an interest in it.

If this law gets passed it will backfire spectacularly.

I'm definitely not against it, but my guess is the best minds will now be put to work figuring out how to defeat, avoid, mitigate this regulation.

I'm 100% in support of applying the law to all people.

What I don't love is the timing of it. It makes it easily dismissible as political theatre. Wait until after the election.

Let's wait and see what other regulatory agencies have to say on the issue.

I see a political thunderstorm brewing in the not very far future.

Only after the major players have divested and created an alternative will it start appearing in headlines and public opinion that we should legislate it harshly.

In 2017.

and revamping that enforcement now. Possibly.

So far they said they want to. Whether they'll actually repeal those laws - time will tell.
