Seems like the few good guys - RIP to his family.

I felt bad for his family.

This is so terrible. My heart goes out to his family.

Awful, I feel really bad for his family. First he goes missing, then he's suspected (by mob decision) of being a bomber/terrorist, and then they find his body. What a nightmare.

Also, keep in mind that he killed himself as his company imploded. It's a sad cautionary tale.

Those who knew him spoke very highly of how nice he was. A genuinely nice guy. Hopefully most aren't judging him too harshly in light of that.

I feel bad for his family — he abandoned them, too.

i'd like to think we've gotten past this kind of shit, but my senses tell me we've yet a ways to go.

RIP AT. everthing i've read suggests he was a really nice man.

OH my goodness this is terrible, my condolences to his friends and family.

Glad he's dead, he was a mean dick

If there was ever a time for companies to step up it's now. I feel terrible for his family. Donated what I could.

Such a bummer. The only people who deserve to die like this are the writers of web hijackers and viruses, multiple times.

This guy was someone who promoted time at home to be part of the kids growing up, something most dads miss out on, still.

I am stunned. While I don't know Dan as many of you do in person, I did read his comments. My condolences to his family.

I initially thought it was a mishap. The news that He took the exit door by himself is what chokes on my thoughts.

Why do the good guys do this to themselves? Why did he go away?

Poor man. I've been through some of what he must have experienced to come to his conclusion and it's very unpleasant. I hope his family and friends are all OK.

It screams "ego". I'm not surprised he had difficulty coming to terms with the damage done because of his software.

I feel for the rest of the family. I can't even begin to imagine what it feels like to lose three relatives to suicide in a such a short span of time.

One man's delusion is another's deliverance. Some may snicker of Darwin Awards and all that, but this man died in a misguided and naive attempt to do good, not to exploit or harm anyone.

I'm sure his family and friends feel terribly bad about this tragedy.

And good riddance.

An incredibly callous attitude to take at what must have been a truly profound sense of anguish and despair experienced by a person known to others as their "beloved father, husband, brother, friend." (Yes, I know you're saying that mostly about the medallion system. But to the extent that that's all that comes to mind when you hear about what happened -- yes, you pretty much are saying that the driver who took his life in this case, as well).

good riddance but he even died like a fucking scumbag

>>>but this man died in a misguided and naive attempt to do good, not to exploit or harm anyone.

May be he wasn't doing anything good from islanders' perspective.

Pity those vultures found him. Another hero we don't deserve goes down...

I'm speechless.

He had his troubles and he made some bad decisions, but it didn't have to be like this.

I wish his family peace and clarity in this dark hour. I'm just so sorry.
