So I tried Matrix yesterday for the first time in my life, despite having heard about it in passing for years on end.

It's fucking slow.

Incidentally I tried matrix for the first time on the basis of someone recommending it here in HN, and it's extremely slow

I tried Matrix last month. It's neat, but slow and a little buggy. Recommending it to anyone other than a Matrix developer right now seems a bit of a stretch.

I so wanted to love Matrix. I tried it for a year and it just had too many sharp edges.

You're not exactly wrong, but you could have worded that a lot more kindly.

I'd say that this will remove my last hesitation I've had in recommending Matrix to people.

I've been experimenting with Matrix.
