Indeed.

They may not realize it, but they will quietly lose business over time to folks who are not fans of the style of this layoff.

sort by: page size:

It's not a publicly announced layoff. These people will be "managed out" - they'll be put on PIPs, given shitty work to do, have constant reviews, never given any chance for a promotion or a raise, until eventually they choose to quit.

More likely, they'll lay off the whole team.

"Eventually, they will get fed up and move somewhere else..."

This has nothing to do with the fact that they were bigger than the job. They knew that going in.

It has everything to do with the fact that their talents have been wasted and a great opportunity has been squandered by their management, who also knew that going in.

Indeed. I expect mass layoffs basically immediately.

That’s true of any company going out of business.

We don’t typically count it against employees for future hiring when that happens though.

They will be enraged when Meta needs to cut jobs due to loss of revenue.

Presumably if it does happen that way, it won't last very long, as the newly acquired employees will figure out "this place sucks" and leave...

Inevitable given the cuts, very much feels like anyone capable has left the business or been fired.

"loosing their ... jobs" ? Ouch.

Well, they hope other companies will do the same, or even fire people, so that there will be no hirings, and so people wont have a chance to jump ship...

It's too late for them to take actions to preserve their Human Capital. They are already at the point where:

1) Much of their good talent has quit 2) They are laying off tons of people anyways

Time to just fire everyone and sell off the company.

And then those overpaid employees will be laid off...

Nah, their jobs will get outsourced, then they'll get fired.

They are firing (i.e. ditching) employees.

They already do - when the value goes down today, they are laid off, or the bosses do more wage theft than usual

Until they’re part of the layoffs too.

I realize that. What they may not know is how many people have left directly because of that bad manager.

Seeing that half of the employees were already laid off, I assume most of the others will see the writing on the wall and start looking for new jobs no matter if they want a union or not...

Is this going to be the new way to lay people off? Annoying them into resignation at random?
