I've never been anywhere I remotely had any chance of being a "target", it must be dreadful to live like that

sort by: page size:

Only someone who has never lived elsewhere would say that.

I know now where I will never live

Same most places I've been, makes it a total nonstarter.

No, the worst place to be has to be mega famous. Johnny Depp or Michael Jackson level. Literally cannot just go out for a simple meal without throngs of people bothering you or paparazzi constantly trying to catch you in compromising positions. Crazy people who love you so much they want to wear your skin as a jacket. You can never and will never have a normal life. Moving to some far off destination is your only chance at a modicum of normalcy.

"Look how it's in places where you're never going to live"

We pass those awesome photos around, but the places where most of us are actually going to live are nothing like, and arguably become worse.

I, personally, am not keen on trying to live in places where I am pointedly made to feel unwelcome.

Non-American also been living here for a decade, and can only say your experiences are not representative, and you seemed to have picked a poor place to live.

"I don't even live there"

Wherever it is, I'm very glad I don't live there.

Also, assuming the author does live there it seems a little hypocritical that he's criticising other's life choices.

It's funny that you generalised a region of 12.2 million but then is offended by someone generalising the US.

You've repeated a cliche about the city.

Did you live there? Anything particular?

That made you decide: "never live there, though"

I guess it doesn't matter if you don't live there.

No offence, but that sounds like a terrible place to live.

you haven´t lived here all of your life, yet....

:)

Wow, OK, I guess I haven't lived in/near the actual worst... Seems rather wild to me.

Your experience is the opposite of most people's experience. I am from a poor rural area full of trailer parks. My experience with them is a place with heavy drug use, domestic abuse, extremely frequent robberies and violence. Definitely not a place most people would like to live given the choice.

I don’t mean for this to sound blunt but your perspective sounds like one that can only be held by someone who has no experience of living in these types of areas.

I'm glad I never moved there.

That's because it's a not a no-go zone. Maybe if you are extremely sheltered, which it sounds like you may be?

It's not even remotely a horrible place to live. On the strength of that idiocy I feel confident that you have never been anywhere else and that you have no opinons worth taking seriously. How old are you? 13?
