Air Force One is gigantic: a modified 747, with offices, bedrooms, etc.

That would not fit inside of Boom's aircraft.

sort by: page size:

Air Force One is also based on a 747.

Air Force One is a 747. The Executive Branch lifestyle!

Well, there is Air Force One that is a modified 747 and both are still flying.

It looks like any other 747 other than the colors.

The big military cargo planes are far bigger. Which air force base?

I think you are grossly underestimating just how large a 747 is.

Except for the replacement Air Force One aircraft which are to be a modified 747-8s.

we are in so deep now :) just have one thing to add: Boeing has not pulled the plug on anything, it's the customers not ordering. 747 is open for business and sadly, based on your deep dive, Boeing seems not expect more orders of any variant.

oh, one more thing: in terms of passenger versions, there are two Air Force One's on order, aren't there? yeah yeah, I know, it's not AF1 if the president's not on it.

It's bigger than a 737

The C5 that accompanies the President's 747 is almost the exact same size a a 747.

Wow! I always knew that 747 wings were huge, but this really puts it in perspective for me.

Click bait. Airforce One 747 is being replaced by aa American plane.

"According to FlightGlobal, the aircraft were originally built for a Russian airline by the name of Transaero. However, the airline filed for bankruptcy in 2015 before it could take delivery of the jumbo jets."

"Transaero never received the 747-8s, going bankrupt before delivery."

Probably a 777. It's smaller, but not by a lot. Plus the current AF1 should be in the air for many years still.

I've seen a Space Shuttle up-close (in a museum): it's big. The 747 is just gargantuan.

The KC-46 is a 767; AF1 is a 747. Lockheed and Grumman don't compete with those sorts of aircraft; Boeing at the very least holds a monopoly on US-made large airliners.

If you want to go really big, here's a 747 one.

I know this wasn't the point but I definitely didn't know a 747 was that big.

Hmm...the 747 was the loser of the US Air Force’s heavy lift competition, to the C-5 Galaxy.

A side point: the Boeing 314 was a huge plane: a double decker with passenger compartment (seating and sleeping) above and a dining room and lounge below.

I've seen one of these LVS 747's in person. It may be "smaller" than the regular one, but it is truly massive. If you ever stay at Mandalay Bay and face the airport, you are basically looking almost directly over the LVS hangar. The only thing that would concern me if I were a super-whale that earned a trip on this plane is its age...nearly 40 years is a very long time in airplane years.
