"Ensuring diversity" is not a worthwhile goal for any institution.

What's the point of such forced diversity? Diversity of gender or race doesn't promote diversity of ideas.

That's not good for diversity.

Trust me, diversity is not priority for everyone. It's just being done to not get labeled as "bad guy".

"Diversity" for the sake of "diversity" is stupid and more importantly racism.

To add to this, there is little to no evidence that diversity initiatives we see today actually helps diversity. It is a big charade and they attack those who don't want to play along with it.

Any diversity efforts that go beyond explicitly stating that minorities are treated well (read: sorting out inherent attributes in people you don't want) are definitely a real problem.

I am saying having racial diversity without equity is not a desirable outcome.

Right on. Diversity is not about diversity.

While I was there, increasing diversity wasn't a priority for them. Now that I think about it, I don't remember diversity even as a discussion topic let alone efforts to address it.

So much for diversity and inclusion.

It seems so stunningly obvious that:

- diversity statements are an intrusive ideological test forced upon fields that are entirely unrelated, under pain of ostracization by a mob of students, taught to do so by activist professors who don't teach how to think but what to think.

- the kinds of colleges that demand them are insanely expensive, have a bloated administration, and offer value nowhere near what they cost, demonstrating that true inclusion and equity is the last thing they care about.

- the people who support them are intolerant, not interested in open inquiry, and do not understand the first thing about the principles they are claiming to uphold.

- the grievances they are obsessed about are situated in a very narrow, american-centric, pampered point of view, which treats history as a fairy tale where only white men had agency, and are responsible for all the ills of the world.

Whether or not it violates the constitution is entirely immaterial seeing as it simply violates common sense, and ticks every box of totalitarian conformism... the kind of thing universities are supposed to protect enlightened societies from.

Insane that people don't see this, but here we are.

Diversity is a social issue. Meritocracy is not a good tool to fix social issues.

They have a two letter diversity policy: "No".

The truth is they don't really care about diversity, it's all a PR exercise.

In a sane world there would be no such position as "head of diversity."

Because they don't care about diversity. That's what I'm saying.

This was one of the big complaints when there was a push for a diversity center at Clemson a couple of years ago. It was pitched exclusively as a place for people of other cultures to use as a hang out, separated from the rest of the university students...which seemed like exactly the opposite of what increasing diversity should be aiming for.

The lie of diversity makes a good case for what’s going on.

Given that diversity of thought and opinion is not tolerated, authentic diversity is not the goal.
