Our product enables software teams to launch and maintain production-grade cloud infrastructure in days, not months.

We create the building blocks that devs and DevOps engineers can use to make launching in the cloud 10x better / faster / easier. We think of our work as creating a new paradigm for how DevOps can be done, one that leverages the insight that many companies re-invent the foundations that software engineers need to build and launch their apps. We work with AWS, K8s, Terraform, Go, Typescript, and React, and introduce new tech as needed. We’re a small team (~20 people), but our clients include Toyota, Adobe, TicketMaster, Verizon, and lots of startups.

We are profitable, self-funded (no investors, no debt), pay salaries, equity, and bonuses according to transparent formulas, and are very focused on building a company we're proud of. We are 100% remote, with 2/3 of our team in the USA and 1/3 in Europe. We have company-wide in-person meetups every few months. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Gruntwork | Senior Full-Stack Engineer | 100% Remote | Full-Time | https://gruntwork.io

Our mission is to make it 10x easier to understand, build, and deploy software.

We are currently focused on knocking all the grunt work of DevOps, where our goal is to make it 10x easier to get up and running with production-grade infrastructure as code on major cloud providers like AWS and GCP.

You'll work with a wide range of tech including Go, Python, Bash, AWS, GCP, Terraform, Docker, Node, React, and whatever else is necessary to solve the problem. Prior experience is less important than an ability to quickly ramp up. Much of your work will be open source.

We are 100% self-funded and have been profitable from day 1. We compute salaries and bonuses formulaically, which results in an above-market salary with generous benefits. We also employ a progressive equity system to more equitably distribute the proceeds of any future liquidity event.

200 person startup in the healthcare space | REMOTE | US Based | Full-time | DevOps Engineer II

I'm hiring a DevOps engineer to join my team! We're a team of ~10 software and QA engineers looking to fill a hole after DevOps departures.

We're on AWS using CodeBuild/CodeDeploy and Terraform with containerized deploys to our dev, staging, and production environments. Stack includes IAM, ECS, CloudFront, DataDog, GitHub Actions, etc. Our infrastructure is reasonably mature and outages are rare.

The primary app is a blog/social network with a WordPress backend, Elixir/Phoenix API, and Vue 2 client + moderation containers.

Comp is under $100k but the team and work/life balance are incredible. The tech team has four-day work weeks (!) and operates on 3 week sprints that actually work, with 95% average completion last year. Every quarter we take 1 week "off" of sprints to do a Hack Week where engineers choose their own work - paying down tech debt, learning, or experimenting.

We can only hire U.S. citizens or those already fully authorized to work in the U.S., cannot do sponsorship or anybody living abroad.

If you're interested, please shoot me an email - it's my HN user name at gmail.com. I can give you the application link 1 on 1, but our FDWW program is currently only for the tech team, so I can't post about it publicly.

Remote

We are looking for software engineers to help our customers effectively use the Aptible deployment platform. The platform is a Docker container service built on top of Amazon Web Services. It provides users with a sysops-free way to manage complex database and application architectures.

Aptible’s mission is to help our customers work safely with the most meaningful, sensitive data in highly regulated industries. To do this, we build devops tools that streamline information security compliance for web and mobile applications. We currently focus primarily in healthcare, on HIPAA compliance.

Our philosophy is that good engineering products and practices are the best competitive advantage for teams working in regulated technology. We build tools and provide services that help our customers gain those advantages. We serve all kinds of customers, from small dev teams to large business units of established companies.

We are backed by the best investors in tech, including Y Combinator (S14), Rock Health, Maverick and Lux Capital.

YOU ARE A GOOD FIT IF:

- You have experience working with Linux and AWS

- You’ve diagnosed and fixed bugs in several different software applications (- and enjoy doing so!)

- You are excited to work with Docker

- You enjoy learning about modern web frameworks

- You have strong writing skills and are comfortable with the responsibility of communicating directly with customers

WHY WORK WITH US?

- Engineering First: Aptible is a tech company from the ground up. It’s founded by engineers, the team is predominantly engineers, and our users are all engineers. Your coworkers and customers will be some of the best in the world at what they do.

- Independence & Trust: Over time, you will be expected to function independently with minimal process overhead for significant portions of your work. This reinforces a high degree of mutual trust within our team.

- Our Business Model: We make money by charging our customers a monthly fee for software and services. This allows us to make decisions for the long term. We aren’t the type of startup where we give away everything for free in hopes that once we collect 100 PB of data we can build an AI to replace your doctor or sell pharma ads.

- Our Customers: We help the best companies in digital health solve their hardest engineering and regulatory problems. We involve them in our product development process and have a weekly support rotation in which the whole team participates. It’s a great way to learn firsthand the strongest and weakest points in the product.

- Introspection: Most of us have worked at a half-dozen companies or more. We’ve lived through best and worst practices in how to run teams. We value regular reflection on process (i.e., retrospectives) with constant small course corrections instead of bulk overhauls when things get really bad. We strive to make expectations clear and give regular, actionable feedback.

- Professional Development: Working on the platform, you’ll be solving new, hard problems at the bleeding edge of container coordination. If you believe that containers are the new paradigm, your work at Aptible will prepare you tremendously for the future. By helping our customers solve issues with their own open-source-based applications, you’ll quickly become an expert in many open-source frameworks and libraries.

- OSS: We believe in active participation in the open-source community on which we’re built. The majority of our GitHub repos are public. You will have the opportunity to create, maintain, and contribute to some of the most interesting projects in open-source.

- Flexibility: Our team is distributed around the world. You can work from any location. If you would like to travel, we regularly schedule opportunities to work together in person around the world.

- Upside: As an early employee, you’ll receive both competitive salary and meaningful equity in a company that’s growing fast. We think startups should give employees more stock, be more transparent about what percentage of the company that stock represents, and discuss what happens to that stock in various outcomes.

OTHER BENEFITS

- Full medical, dental and vision coverage — 100% of premiums for employees, 80% for dependent medical premiums, and 100% for dependent dental and vision premiums.

- Mandatory minimum vacation each year. Too often at startups, “unlimited vacation” means “no vacation.” We will force you to take time off. Our CEO will suspend your email and GitHub access if you don’t do it.

- 401k

- Whatever computing setup you want.
