The supposed bitterness doesn't actually make their criticism of McDonald's wrong.

It's easy to hate on McDonald's, but this is a company that actually does a fantastic job of responding to their critics. They have changed their packaging, updated the design of their restaurants, eliminated trans-fats from the fry oil, changed how they market to kids, added salads to the menu, posted calorie counts and nutrition info, etc. Despite all the hate, they listen and respond.

Even though I don't personally like their food, they are not a company that I would bet against in the long run.

People aren't mad because MacDonalds runs a chain of restaurants or presents consumers with food or provides a easy way to get a meal. Lots of companies do those things without complaint. People are mad at McDonalds because the company constantly lies about health issues, makes one statement about the origins of their food when really it comes from somewhere else, and just generally treats the concerns of its consumers with complete contempt.

McDonald's is hardly hurting for customers...

McDonalds isn't as bad as it used to be tbh, it's reputation is somewhat undeserved these days

Some people don't like hamburgers. That isn't a data point against McDonald's being successful.

No, everyone else is just pretending they don't like McDonald's for that valuable elitist cred.

So, what do you say about McDonalds?

This also proves that it's not McDonalds fault.

I'm not convinced. McDonalds isn't in the business of disappointing their customers.

This is McDonald's we're talking about. No one walks into one expecting spit-and-polish and Michelin-starred service.

It's a balance. McDonald's would get more hate for pulling ads than for they would for the original article.

I don't like the food they make, but McDonalds generally executes very well.

Sure, but McDonalds being successful doesn’t mean most people like McDonalds. Lots of people, sure, but lots don’t.

Even if McDonald's were being total dicks about Supermac's, the remedy shouldn't be for the Government to act like a petulant child.

McDonalds didn't put a gun to anybody's head. Neither did Crisco, or KrispyKreme, or CocaCola. Subsidize broccoli and tofu all you want. They'll still eat hamburgers and wash them down with a soda.

The claim that "wrong burger incident" won't be investigated by McDonald's is incorrect. McDonald's takes problems like that very seriously.

You know, if you don't like it, you don't have to eat there. But other people who like McDonalds still have the option

McDonald's is an amazing company. We are discussing product/financial health here, not whether you like them.

You're right, you're definitely not a sheeple. After all, almost no one ever hates on McDonald's on HN.
