Please use this to reboot Trade Wars 2002.

Wow, I haven't thought about trade wars in forever. I used to play back on "The Berlin Wall" in Berlin, CT.

That's about all I remember

The very first thing I looked for was Trade Wars.

So instead of Trade Wars, we can now play Commit Wars!

We are quite far from a real trade war.

Right now it's still more of a civilized sparring.

Do you experience any of those things you said? I don't think trade war is hurtful unilaterally anyway, and innocent people also suffer. Care to explain why?

All of these things are interlinked and the tradewar is absolutely part of it.

Yep. My view on trade wars is basically: let's all chop off an arm. Last one standing wins. Whoever wins may discover that they didn't really need that arm to survive, but is life really better without it?

Trade wars can have cataclysmically bad outcomes, historically speaking. Numerous wars, the Great Depression. It's a bad idea.

WTO and Trade/Economic Warfare. For example: https://www.wikiwand.com/en/United_States_embargo_against_Cu...

International trade and trade wars are two different things though.

If one country conducts their trade in an unfair manner and won't stop until another country retaliates, after which they both trade fairly, this would be just one an example of an effective trade war.

Whether any of this is happening today is very complex and seems to come down to a matter of opinion, especially since almost no one has sat down and really looked at the numbers and issues in depth.

> It was created as an amalgamation of post-war globalist trade deals.

To deincentivise countries going to war with each other...

Just my opinion but I think trade wars is heading in the wrong direction. We need to open trade more. At first it will cause pain and inefficiency, but specialization and collaboration has a larger net benefit to humans than both countries manufacturing everything themselves. But of course over specialization weakens the whole system when a piece goes missing perhaps.

Tradewars are easy to win! ....NOT

Not that I support trade wars, but do we have evidence that really nobody wins in trade wars? Just out of curiosity.

I thought the topic was world trade.

Just like wars, in trade wars one side gets hit worse than the other, which is kinda the point I guess.

Also, just like trade wars, wars come at great costs to both sides, but they still happen.
