Strange to see this modded down. This was a milestone in many ways in the area of online citizen journal. This letter itself is kind of groundbreaking. Rarely does a media company write a full-throated apology letter, and almost never for the actions of users/readers who break their rules. I doubt we'll ever get any such apology from the New York Post
Yes definitely, I was on mobile earlier otherwise I would have. The New York Post had a major story censored a few weeks ago. I have no love for the NYP (I think they sensationalize news), but they are not some scummy right wing conspiracy machine. I pretty much agree with Glenn Greenwald here: https://theintercept.com/2020/10/15/facebook-and-twitter-cro...
I guess the NY Post doesn't believe in free speech after all...
This looks like the work of a false flagger trying to make NYPost look bad or to spread fake news to gullible left/center voters, or just a vandalizing troll, rather than someone trying to use NYPost's reach to spread a message the author believes in.
A sign of respect, but the NYpost was never given that option and immediately went into suppression, and it did not turn out to be false information.
Meanwhile, CNN and NYTIMES post content and retract it in higher amounts, and they never were surpressed, locked out of their account or even had twitter force to fix "itself" by now agreeing that they'd "wouldn't" remove content but now just "flag it."
Wrong. They suspended linking to the story for 24 hours - a story that had very shady sourcing and which the New York Post did not even put an author's name on.
