Whatever you think of Elon up until this point, I don't see how you can find him reliable/trustworthy. He specifically said that @elonjet was ok and then reversed course on that.

He's obviously a liar at minimum.

What has Elon done that makes you think everything that he says is reliable?

If you can trust Elon with things he says. Over the years I got really skeptical.

Disagree, Elon has high credibility IMO, certainly higher than an anonymous source with incentives to slander. Not saying he is perfect but given the scrutiny he is under and how much he is “in the arena” pushing the envelope.

Elon is furthermore a software engineer (he wrote ALOT of code at zip2 & paypal) so your argument falls flat in that regard.

I don't take Elon for a dishonest person.

I truly don't know how anyone can believe a word Elon Musk says at this point. I'm not saying I trust Bezos either, but Elon has burned any shred of credibility he ever had.

That happened before elon officially took over. He replied to a question about it on Twitter and i really don’t see him lying about it.

Im not a elon fan. At all. but the knee jerk reaction he gets at this point is kind of deserved… however you’re better off not falling into that trap.

Elon has been declaring so many things that are not supported by facts, I don't think we should believe him without objective third party data.

It's really not. What Elon says is whatever is currently floating in his head or whatever he thinks will give him a stock boost.

He's not credible with respect to his companies plans. It's happened like dozens of times when he says something well or will not happen, and it turns out he was just lying.

The default stance of reading Elon today has to be, "this is probably a lie. Put no value in it until it is proven true".

Given all of the other actions I've seen from Elon, I wouldn't say he's a reliable narrator.

I think Elon was the one doing the lying.

Elon promising things and not delivering = he failed his promises in the past many multiple times, there is no reason to trust him further

Elon looking at his company's balance sheet or 1y forecast = hopefully there can't be too many things wrong in there, there is more reason to trust/believe statements regarding this.

Not 4D chess.

Elon does a good enough job of discrediting himself.

Probably just a third party that Elon would trust to corroborate answers to questions. He probably hasn't made many friends in the Twitter building, and may not take what he's told at face value.

I’m extremely skeptical to buy a Tesla because of Elon. He’s erratic and constantly making wild promises his company cannot keep.

I have no problem with an eccentric CEO, but I do have a problem with the bald face lies he makes.

Personally I think Elon was foolish for calling the cave guy a pedo. But things like missed deadlines I don’t really think affect his credibility. It’s technology, estimates are hard.

Most of the supposed damage to Elon’s reputation is simply attacks by Twitter competitors. Think of the hoax a few weeks ago about people being forced to read his tweets.

Elon saying one thing, and doing another is a tale as old as time.

Don't listen to a word he says - assume it's false until independently verified.

On sincerity there's no harm in taking what he says at face value. Despite his intelligence I don't think someone as gaffe prone as Elon would be capable of fooling everyone.

So Elon just lied? /s

If he had only said it once, sure. But Elon has repeatedly, year after year made the same claim only for it to turn out false. So either he's lying knowing full well it won't come to fruition, or he's incapable of accurately assessing progress. I strongly suspect the former, especially given his relationship with the truth on other things, but the latter makes him just as unreliable source of information.
