The SSD in the machine will probably need to be replaced.
Why? Here's an article estimating a 50 year lifetime for current SSDs based on writing at max speed 24x7, and claiming that the "it will wear out quickly" myth no longer applies.
There's probably some truth to SSDs dying off horribly, but like anything else, the tech will evolve and then you replace your SSD with a new SSD at some point. Wouldn't hurt to use Time Machine as well.
Which also means the entire thing has to be thrown out when the SSD eventually dies. Sure it's going to take a while, but it will happen. Yay consumerism, I guess.

Considering this is a firmware "bug" that bricks the drive, due to a misplaced index, not a physical wear issue, it appears to be a 4.5-year planned obsolescence feature.
