Most google products are crap. Google docs in particular can't handle documents the size of things I'd routinely edit on an 8088.

Some are outstanding.

Search was outstanding, I'm not sure what it is now.

sort by: page size:

Google docs is also reportedly terrible for working with sizeable documents.

Google Docs is also exceptionally bad at finding things too I find.

docs.google? Really?

Google Docs is extremely frustrating. It has such potential, but it's such a hack-job, and Google doesn't seem particularly interested in making it less so. It certainly shows that the apps were acquired and patched together, because document organization is putrid, and even search doesn't work effectively.

The other one that gets me is that Google Docs search... doesn't search the contents of documents.

google doc? REALLY?

Seen that one too. The fact you can't do quick batch operations across many documents makes me crazy.

Google Docs has so much potential. Google should just spin it off into a separate company and let it find its own way. Making it conform to Google notions of search has crippled the design.

I use Google Docs virtually every day, and I'm no power user.

But I know real Office power users in corporate settings. They'd point and laugh. Meanwhile, I'm beating my head against a wall trying to get Google Docs to handle nested lists and tables adequately. It's a crap product, a toy, at least by enterprise standards.

What? The only thing I like about Google Docs is the sharing part. The rest of it is a slow, bloated web app that is limited in the number of features it has.

Because Google Docs suck for any kind of actual professional work, instead of playing at office.

Google docs is a joke.

Nah they are overrated. Google docs is thoroughly mediocre the only plus is that it's free. And finally fed up enough with Google workspace that I'm moving off it. Their documentation is terrible. Gmail is good but will pay for a comparable replacement and then can finally wash my hands of this parasitic company

I mostly use Google Docs these days and, in general, I'm a fan of how it's focused on the 90-95% use case. But every now and then I run into something it just can't do or that it does relatively poorly. (Revision tracking from multiple people in particular, complex section breaks of various kinds, doubtless other things.)

What are your issues with Google Docs search? Just curious as I'm building a product to generate a better wiki out of Docs/Drive.

Google docs is worth it for the coorporation, but if you are writting for yourself, or anything seriously it is simply not good enough, but I don't think the performance is the issue.

Whats wrong with Google docs?

Google docs absolutely sucks. Though at least it has driven the price down where I can get MS Office for a few $ more.

Yes and Google Docs is not nearly as good as Office or even Apple’s iWork suite.

Google Docs can't really compete with the MS feature set.
