The two founders have indian sounding names [0] at least, so it might be the case that this is what they are going for.

Personally, this sounds like an extremely irresponsible startup, but I don't know much about it so I'm trying to reserve judgement.

Huh not sure where I read this long time ago, but yeah it appears to only have a vague connection to SRI at best.

As you say the majority of staff are in India, the founder is Indian but also crucially the major stakeholder[1] is also Indian and lives in India.

I'm not sure how they could be anything else but Indian.

From their About page, neither of the founders is technical. One has a PhD in Finance but doesn't list any banks or hedge funds amongst his previous employers, that seems odd. The other is a business bro.
