What blew my mind was how large it was. You're thinking it's a camera...how large can that be? It's the size of a school bus.

sort by: page size:

There is a large range of bus sizes, a 40' giant squid would look larger than a small bus ex: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_bus#/media/File:Blue_Bi... or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Bird_Micro_Bird#/media/Fi.... But smaller than an extra large 97 seat school bus.

I think that might just be an illusion. The dimensions of a Citaro and a school bus are roughly the same.

That thing is the size of a building though.

Those SAR sats are the size of a bus.

The extremely wide FoV in the video makes it look far bigger than it is.

It's small, but it's not as small. That thing's huge in comparison.

Agreed. I first saw the image and thought wow, that really is big. Then I saw the specs.

I guess it's misleading because the engine is much closer to the camera than the background, but nothing makes that obvious. There's a tiny little person behind it, and if you don't realize the perspective difference, that would look like the engine is pretty huge.

That picture needs some context for scale. My first impression was that it had a normal USB port and was much larger.

Larger than a city bus.

Oh, and in case someone hasn't seen Jaimie Manzel in all his retro 1990's site glory: http://jamius.com/

It's not that small.

Interesting. The photo looks kinda bulky, but it's pretty zoomed in. I guess it's more DS sized?

Really wish they'd photographed people next to these... I can't guess how large they are.

Ooh - I misread - I thought the article said that a camera _would_show the size difference. That is interesting.

If that were the case then it'd be bigger in photographs. It isn't.

It is the size of a Tardis

The size of its display is less impressive when you see how big the border is. That thing's got to be huge.

it was the size of the iPhone image. Reload :)

It's large overall but tiny per amount of cargo moved a distance.

It's interesting that you thought it was so small at first. I've been talking to a number of people about the size over the last few months, and the most common reaction is, "I thought it was bigger". For some reason our early photography left the impression that this was the size of a shoe box or car battery. In reality, it's about the size of 3 stacked iPhones.

We've got some pictures with it next to computers and on top, or near, other "stuff". That was the idea we were going for in that top header image on the site anyway.
