They probably are and it’s likely a different set of people than those that were laid off.

They probably all got laid off.

Seems to me like some of them got laid-off and some got reassigned.

Maybe they got fired and these are the replacements.

I mean, that probably at least partly explains why they were laid off..

Just more regular people about to be laid off and suffer.

I'm assuming some of those still employed switched to other lines of work.

It’s certainly possible that the people who came up with this idea lost their jobs because of the latest layoff.

Yeah, they're hoping that the people they didn't fire don't "get out before the next round of layoffs"

I hope so. If they aren’t then they would be better off finding work in some other part of the country.

It looks like the companies laying people off were the ones wanting staff back at the office.

It sucks for those impacted but at least it's not some BS excuse like in most recent layoffs. I hope they find new jobs soon.

I'm making the assumption that they're _also_ still hiring, and that the people that were fired could, instead, be transitioned into other roles. I would be amazingly surprised if they were not still hiring.

No, they'll continue to be laid off like in previous years.

I wonder if they are posting themselves out of a job again.

There are a specific handful of people I genuinely hope are part of this layoff…

Weren’t they just laying off a bunch of people? Now on a hiring spree?

Well 13 of them just lost their (well-paying) jobs so maybe not

I don't see what's missing. Those people are laid off.

Is this related to the thing where the bill they passed is paying out more as unemployment than people would be making if they kept their jobs?

It's possible they know exactly what they're doing, are doing everybody a favor, and will just hire them again when everything opens back up.
