I don’t want to live in densely populated places cooped up in apartments.

Not everybody likes living in dense cities.

Not everyone wants to live in a dense population.

You're right - I do not want to live in dense cities. I did it for years, and hated it. I was happy when I was able to move out into a detached home where I can use speakers and not have to worry about a neighbor getting angry.

It's only one neighbor out of the 6 I would share separating walls with, but one is all it takes.

A lot of people simply don't want to live in a crowded city in an apartment crowded on every side with other apartments. I'd prefer a location in a low-density suburban area (with a lot of forest around me) where I could get to the city in a few minutes.

What if you don't want to live in a city as dense as that?

According to this data, I don't want to live in such cities. I get that for some people those pools of houses and people in a small area are nice, but for me, in the information age, it doesn't make much sense anymore to live in a crowded area with all the amplified problems people have when stacked on top of each other.

I agree, but I also don't want to live like a sardine in a can, packed in with millions of others, living in a small box, having no green space, etc. I'm generally a social person, but don't like living that close to that many people. Many others seem to agree.

Neither the article nor the comment you are referring to were talking about government housing.

And you’re entitled to not want to live in a dense urban environment, but you might need to open your mind to the idea that not everyone feels the way you do.

Am I like the last person on the planet who doesn't want to live in a dense city?

Just thinking of it makes me nauseous. I'm current in suburbs, and I can almost touch my neighbors house through my window if I lean out very far, and I don't like that, but can tolerate it.

Anything closer, is just horrifying to think about it.

I've been in dense cities, I've stayed there. I would completely lose my sanity if that's where I had to live longterm.

I utterly don't care if I can't walk places - I anyway hate walking. I don't care if there are no small shops - I have some here, and I've never in my entire life visited one. I take a car and I go to a larger store, with a larger selection (or I buy online).

First, understand that I am not suggesting you or others like you are wrong, if you are happy then cool.

But... I simply cannot understand the desire to live in such close proximity to large numbers of other people. Never ever again will I subject myself to high density living. I live in a suburb and simply hate having to go downtown especially when there are big events going on. The bars are crowded, eating establishments are packed, noisy has hell. Won't do it, you can't make me!

I like the quiet, I like being able to walk into a suburban bar and not have to shoulder my way through a crowd to try to find a seat if one is even available. It's nice to simply walk in, sit down on a bar stool and actually hear the game on the TV. I like not having the noise of a city outside my window when I sleep.

The greatest freedom of all is that either of us can make the choice of what lifestyle suits us.

As much as I want new housing, I don't want to live in a dense city. I have lived in apartments long enough to know I don't want to live in an apartment anymore. I was born and raised in the suburbs and I want to continue to live in one. I don't blame people living in single family homes not wanting multiple family homes built near them or fighting infill development.

We really need to reduce the population. It will help with carbon footprint reduction too.

If you don't want to live in a high density area, then why did you choose to live in a city?

Denser areas aren’t worth it if you like peace and quiet, nature, and physical safety.

Or it could be that not everyone wants to live in a crowded city in a small apartment. Some people prefer to be a bit more spread out, perhaps near nature.

I wouldn’t want to live there, but this is the way to achieve limitations on density.

If you need high density, go for it. I don't want to live in a high density place, nor does just about anyone who can afford to.

You know absolutely nothing about my lifestyle. I'll refrain from what I would say to you in person as it is against the guidelines of this site.

Everyone is not going to live in dense cities and those who argue that is the only solution have already lost their argument.

Good. I don't want to live in a city.

I dislike density and can't stand not having lots and lots of space. I love the look and feel of sprawl, and I want more of it... you couldn't pay me to live in an urban environment.

Crowded cities feel like something out of the past to me. Like, my great-grandparents lived in a crowded city when they first came to this country, and every subsequent generation has moved farther and farther out into the burbs. Moving to a city would feel like moving to 1901 to me.

If your desire for comfort and privacy in public is strong, don't live in a dense city.
