Hopefully that does not change in the future. If anyone could just go anywhere that would be a terrible dystopian future.

That is already somewhat the case in China. Meaning, it is not a possible dystopian future... it is the present in some parts of the world.

That's pretty dystopic. I don't want that.

This fact is very dystopic in itself.

Man that is so dystopian, and I don't disagree with what you're saying will happen at all.

Hardly dystopic. And, of course, if you find that state of affairs too immoral to be borne, you can always walk away.

I hope I never end up in your dystopian part of the world.

Seriously? Isn’t that a very dystopian view of the future?

Well, in a truly dystopian future, these flaws will no longer occur. :)

Sounds like a dystopian future to me.

Luckily these types of dystopias are only stable in fiction. Lets hope future ones will destabilise faster than the e.g. soviet union did (after 70 or so years of existence), though.

It depends on the culture of the person experiencing it. We don't all share the same cultural values. So, there is no reason this is not dystopian for many many people.

I certainly don't want to live in that dystopia.

This future is dystopian (and likely). Sure, there might be a few libertarian or communitarian utopias out there, or maybe even a few safe haven colonies where persecuted groups or sects can live without fear of persecution.

But there will also be colonies that are absolute hell for their inhabitants: institutionalized chattel slavery, legalized pedophilia, animal torture, all manner of non-consensual sexual deviancy.

Just imagine if guys like Jeffrey Epstein could scurry off to their own solar system and build an entire society based on their wants and desires, far from the reach of international justice.

Why should the future be dystopian?

Don't worry, even getting close enough to that dystopia will wipe out the society and so not that many people will be left to worry about happiness.

Dystopia is always a possibility... but in the near future I think we're reasonably safe.

Try to think back to what passed as extreme sports in the 80s and compare it to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F9RJSPnf8A

I'm not sure we're headed into WALL-E chairs just yet.

How dystopian. Why would anyone accept such a restriction?

2030 is going to be a dystopia

The future better look like that.

The alternative is... dystopian.
