China is not communist, at least not in any way related to the western definition. There is no common ownership of the means of production and there is still very much an independent state, money, and social classification.
China is not Communist or Socialist though. They are basically fascist, or if you want to be strict about the definition of fascism they represent an entirely new form altogether.
China isn’t communist. China is a one-party state with state-controlled capitalism. The name CCP is only historical and fuels propaganda. Instead of looking at names, look at the actual economics of the country.
It is quite naive to think china is in any shape or form communist (except for the name). China has become a hardcore capitalist society with its current leader rumored to have accumulated wealth in the double digit billions.
It's not really correct to say China is a communist country.
Under Deng Xiaoping, China gradually undid the economic structures that define communism and moved to a market-driven economy. Today it is essentially a free market economy with maybe a little more government intervention than most other free market economies. China is communist in name only.
The label "Communist China" is exactly the right label though. The Government of china is unashamedly communist and have no intention of ever changing. Maybe the reason you can't come up with a better label is because there isn't one.
