Did people think it was that good? IME, it translates normal text to and from many languages into something that provides the gist if lacking in the nuances. Which, IMHO, is flippin fantastically great even in the face of the odd horrible translation.
Sometimes after writing a text I decide to throw it into DeepL for shits and giggles and the translations are pretty much as good as native every time.
So sure... it was translated by ChatGPT. But do we know what language it was translated into? It seems to have a passing relation to english, but I'm not sure what many of those sentences mean.
However, I was even more surprised that the rest of the translation is so smooth (while the original text is so obscure to me) it almost feels like decryption rather than translation. Which is awesome. At this point, non-literary text in any of the world main languages has become transparently accessible.
