The IGN review says it plays Control at medium settings at 60fps. That's roughly double the performance of a GTX 760 I believe (which is around 30FPS at low settings @ 1080p).
It’s very much playable on top of the line rigs. My 6900xt chews up and spits out its console level graphics at 4K60fps with no frame drops. I have about 250 hours in game.
The only time it stutters is during some cinematic cutscenes.
It's very playable. There is only one ruining problem, as the game progress and number of objects on the map increases, game becomes ultra slow. Like one frame in 10 seconds.
Runs great? It's hard capped at 30 FPS as far as I understand, and higher quality textures/effects were intentionally removed from the console versions.
Not everyone is used to the difference in appearance, but that's hardly what most people would call "great" for a $60 AAA title.
I’m playing on first gen threadripper and a 580rx card with no major issues, the game is gorgeous and I am having a blast.
I agree that the AI is horrible and the UI is a pain, especially when you want to do things like sell a lot of items
It's pretty playable on GeForce Now, for what it's worth. Still a big laggy, but I was able to play for many hours without major issues... just the occasionally annoying but livable stutter.
Heck, I'm playing it on an 8 gig card (2070 super) and it runs fine at 2k/60fps (occasional drops to 40), and is flawless at 1080p or dropping settings to medium (which looks good nonetheless).
Hmm interesting. I suppose I could have read too much into the IGN review saying control played at “smooth frame rates”. I suppose we’ll have to wait for proper benchmarks to know for sure the performance.
with a 12gb amd card and a 4ghz processor I can run the game at a pretty stable 2k/60fps with occasional dips to 50. It is a lot better than how it was at release.
It is probably worth it just to play it now, I think its the best game I have ever played.
