How do one access the new search?

sort by: page size:

how to get access to the new search :)

Which search button? I don't see one.

I've been trying to use the redesign several times, and still haven't figured out how to perform a search in the current subreddit. In old reddit there's just a checkbox for that.

Where is the search box?

There is a search icon in the upper left of the landing page for me. It opens up a search bar.

You have to log in to see the search icon.

It's still the same. The new Start screen doesn't explicitly show a search box, but it'll start searching as soon as you type something.

Now that makes sense. Thanks. It said I could enter a search string, so that threw me off.

No idea where I’d find that in the old UI either. I’d just use the search bar.

At the very bottom of every page there's a search bar. Just type whatever and hit enter

The default search changes if you have never touched the search option.

Thanks for the tip.

I finally found the link to Advanced Search. It's off the Settings menu. I could swear it used to be right there next to the Search button ...

I guess I've just been using memorized operators on Google, and haven't actually looked for the Advanced Search link in quite a while.

It's like what Microsoft does with configuration dialogs. They design a new UI, but it doesn't do 100% of the what old UI did. So they keep the old UI, and shove it one level down. Then in another few years, they'll design yet another new UI, and I'll have to click two levels down ...

Or drag-select text to the New Tab button. It will open a new tab and search your selected text (unless it's an URL, in which case it will open it).

Next to the search bar, there's a little button that says "advanced" that I believe will still allow you to get to the functionality you're looking for in a less intuitive way.

You can see it if you enable the pathbar (view, show path bar), then select the search result.

Usually you repeat the search hotkey to activate the browser's native search function.

you mean the search tool? scroll down to the bottom.

It’s caught me off guard as I assumed the search bar went to google, but it doesn’t do that till you hit enter.

I see... If I open the browser and search there, it shows, if I use the search widget, it doesn't have the option
