Agreed. I think the problems is that he is reading it the wrong way by taking what is written as factual. Clearly it makes more sense if you consider the articles are written in "the onion" style.

My position is that he is giving off-the-cuff opinions instead of informed positions. He seems to speak without having reviewed available information.

Read the papers. He is arguing that they are using the same definition without doing so, thus removing his credibility.

I feel like a part of it is a refusal to be accept anything other than a very thorough explanation of why something is the way it is. He's not going to accept someone saying "nah, can't do it that way" at face value no matter who tells him.

He has challenged a lot of assumptions, to his benefit

Yeah, I noticed this too and he has many very flawed arguments. It looks like he just wants to spam as many comments as possible and confuse people.
