How many people have actually been prosecuted as war criminals even on the losing side?

War criminals?

No, you have to be on the losing side of a war to be a war criminal.

Unfortunately war crime trials are always for losers of wars, not winners.

War criminals? Are we talking about the same people?

War crimes are what losers did.

More than that, they could be tried as war criminals.

There are plenty of prosecutions and convictions of US soldiers for war crimes in the US.

There have been efforts to identify and locate "war criminals" of one side. No effort has been made to identify, locate and charge war criminals of the other side ( which has far more war criminals if we are being honest ).

War crimes are an add insult to injury course of action. They are a way for victors to humiliate the vanquished.

Victors don't have war crimes leveled against them.

yes, but that side "won". so the important take away is that if you're going to commit war crimes, you must win the war to avoid being charged

You're not a war criminal unless you lose the war.

Keep in mind that around 6000 people (maybe outdated number) died from that war so far. I doubt they're getting justice for them or their families either. They might get a scapegoat in some time, however. Even a very guilty one.

Since this is an actual court, I’d say it’s important to differentiate between “has judged as being war criminals” and “has charged with being war criminals”. There are hopefully more penalties for someone who has been tried and found guilty.

"War criminals" ?

Every side commits war crimes pretty much every war. The losers go to Hague for ritual humiliation, the winners don't see any consequences because there is no mechanism to compel them to submit to a trial, otherwise Russia would have already been indicted long before this invasion.

Could we expect the war criminals responsible for this be prosecuted now?

What are you on about, who’s a war criminal, genuinely curious?

Please name one american war criminal higher than a soldier killing innocents in the dozens ( like someone who ordered a war or a strike or torture or kidnapping or whatever) who was actually tried and served time for his crimes. That just doesn't happen with US war criminals, so the question is moot.
