Its two of the worst yield chips. Its a lot more than a phone...

sort by: page size:

Any idea on what’s the yield on these chips?

I would be VERY shocked to see 100% yield... theres only so much you can do on chip though this strongly depends on what your definition of a working chip is :-P

Both, it is an inherent drawback of using chiplets.

If the chip yield is 100%.

You get more than one chip for that price.

Very chip, but you would need a little(I mean very much) luck to buy it.

There is one such chip in your phone and in your GPU.

What chip?

Did you even read how their chips work?

Chips

Can someone who is into chips explain how big of a thing this is? And what maybe next?

A chip is a lot harder than a wafer, and a chip is what's claimed.

These chips are not going to be used in phones.

AMD style chiplets also increase yield.

Chiplets aren’t a desired technology. It’s done for either yield (more common) or thermal reasons (less common).

It’s not something to brag about.

Chiplets are the microservices of the semiconductor world. It’s good in that smaller individual chips are cheaper to produce, and the whole package is more scalable, but it’s bad in that there are interfaces that reduce performance vs a monolith

Does someone of you use the whole potential that this kind of chip offers ? What do you use it for ?

Not for chips it won't be.

There are more cost-effective chips for those.
